Vivienne Baker (b. 1965) studied BA Fine Art in Coventry and MA Printmaking in Bristol. Working in both painting and printmaking her images evolve from a slow, layering process using unconventional painting techniques to create undefined spaces. Using low tech photographic resources combined with memory, her work captures the essence of a place or memory, or an aspect of it without being strictly figurative.
She has exhibited during international residencies and workshops, recently showing in Xishuangbanna International art exhibition, Yunnan, China in December 2017 and in Bristol at View Gallery and Centrespace Gallery with a solo exhibition in December 2017. She was commissioned to make five paintings for Treasured City by Luke Jerram at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre, Scunthorpe (2017).
